The procurement procedures of the Dutch governmental organisations directly affect what they procure, possess and therefore control. With a total yearly budget of €85 billion in public procurement, 18% of the annual Dutch environmental impact and 23% of the Dutch raw material usage is caused by these procurements.
Purchase organizations have an important role to play in creating value through reducing the environmental impact of public procurement and in achieving objectives effectively and against the lowest possible costs.
1. The objectives are clear and fixed
2. Policy is aimed at achieving objectives
3. Projects must implement policy
4. Results of projects are monitored together and tested against objectives
EcoReview can provide practical support in projects and provide strategic advice in drawing up policy and setting up monitoring in the field of sustainable procurement.

When concepts like ‘circularity,’ ‘environmental costs’ and ‘life cycle analysis’ do discussed but not fully understood? When the difference between an LCA and MKI isn’t clear?
There is an increase in the number of contracts that LCA / MKI handles. In practice, it appears that the client has difficulty with the correct application of this method, tenders.
With the in-depth knowledge of LCA and the experience with the checking LCA calculations, EcoReview has started with the offering accompanying and advisory services for purchasing organizations.
In all phases of a (purchase) project it is important to pay attention to sustainability.
Sustainable COMMISIONING
Resources (time, money, knowledge) to create a sustainable framework to come
Sustainable DESIGN
Knowledge and experience to become a sustainable customer as a client design to come
Sustainable TENDERS
Stimulation to encourage market parties to achieve a balance in price, quality and durability
Sustainable DELIVERY
Verification that the execution has been as sustainable as committed
Sustainable MANAGEMENT
Not only the purchasing itself, but also sustainable management of it
Sustainable REUSE
After the end of its life, the purchased and managed product can be simple and high-quality use
Purchasing organizations still lack sustainable “monitoring” data (step 4).
CONCLUSION: sustainable commissioning starts with the right request of LCA / MKI in projects.
Starting point of obtaining sustainability information for monitoring is in the tender (step 3C).
Data released from projects (Step 3C&D), will be used at the organizational level (in step 4) to develop policy (step 2) create that further direction to achieve objectives (step 1).
How do you apply sustainable policy in projects? and more more importantly, how do you get out of these projects or sustainably policy has an effect? Paul Prinssen lays in 20 minutes clear overview of what tendering with MKI entails and how can be easily monitored on various policy objectives such as CO2 and Circularity.
